Advanced Pain Management
The objective of The Advanced Pain Management continuous professional development course is to ensure that you have everything you need to help clients who come to you with pain issues, whether physical or emotional.
On this advanced course we will address “what is pain”, based on the work of Lorimer Moseley, the Australian neurologist and current leader in this field. We shall then examine and practise four powerful techniques for reducing pain. While the focus may be mainly on physical pain these can also be used for emotional pain.
The course will deepen your knowledge and understanding of the following techniques in pain management:
-
Dissociation
guiding the brain to leave aside messages which are no longer helpful, particularly useful for chronic pain.
-
Transformational fantasy
great for instance for psychosomatic pain, for example clients for whom the medical profession has run out of ideas, or the origin of the pain is unclear.
-
Trance phenomena of time distortion
improving the quality of life by altering the perception of time pain is experienced.
-
Symptom imagery
engaging with the painful symptom to discover lifestyle changes that allow the pain to reduce.
The course will also address the causes of pain such as: cancer, peripheral neuropathy, adverse childhood experiences, lower back pain, and perception of time.
Full scripts will be provided together including conversational inductions which have proved useful for pain clients.
A list of source material is included in the notes.
The course will include demos and practical exercises to ensure hands-on-skills in pain management.
